Mount Vernon At Home Staff
Executive Director
Barbara Hughes Sullivan took over as the Mount Vernon At Home Executive Director in December 2011 after having been very involved in the early stages of Mount Vernon At Home development as a member of the Mount Vernon At Home Board of Directors (2008-2010).
In 2001, she joined Paul Spring Retirement Community to head the marketing/business development team. She focused on senior issues and became qualified as a licensed Administrator for Assisted Living in the State of Virginia. After obtaining her license, she was promoted to Assistant Executive Director. In May of 2010, Ms. Sullivan left Paul Spring to open her own consulting practice helping seniors maintain their independence at home and offering solutions for families that need more care for their aging parents. As an advisor, she was active in the growing "village" movement to help seniors stay in their homes.
Ms. Sullivan served on the Board of Directors for the Mount Vernon Lee Chamber, was voted President and Chairman of the Board in 2006, 2007. She was awarded the Pro-Aging Award, Honoring Exceptional Professionals in the Field of Aging, and in 2008, the Citizen of the Year award from the Mount Vernon Lee Chamber of Commerce. She volunteers with the Chamber outreach programs, Social Justice ministries for seniors at Good Shepherd Church and was Chairman of the Board for the Inova Mount Vernon Hospital Development Council. In 2011, Ms. Sullivan was awarded the honor of Lady Fairfax for the Mount Vernon District.
Office Manager
Betsy Clagett is the Mount Vernon At Home office manager and has been with the organization for almost 2 years. As office manager, Betsy coordinates assistance to members, volunteers and prospective members. Betsy also supports the organization with marketing efforts, newsletter production, fundraising, and grant writing. She additionally serves as Membership Coordinator.
Volunteer Office Assistants
Rita Foss is our database maintenance whiz and updates our database on a weekly basis. She also frequently helps out as a volunteer driver in addition to keeping our database in good shape.
Jean Glazier is a Mount Vernon At Home member and office volunteer who mans the office one day each week. She is often busy taking member requests, matching volunteers with member requests, providing preferred vendor referrals, or calling members to check on their well being. Jean also graciously volunteers her time as a volunteer driver at Mount Vernon At Home.
Diane Lilienthal is at the office assistant desk one day each week too. In addition to coordinating member requests and database maintenance, Diane coordinates and tracks volunteer hours each month.
