About Us

Mount Vernon At Home is a new, nonprofit membership organization whose mission is to help residents of the Mount Vernon area live safely, comfortably, and confidently in their own homes for as long as possible, in the community they love. With an annual membership in Mount Vernon At Home, residents will be able to enjoy enhanced peace of mind and independence, social and cultural programs with new and longtime friends, and continued engagement in the vibrant community life of the Mount Vernon area.

Mount Vernon At Home offers its members a broad portfolio of services, and links them in a friendly, mutually supportive “village” of Mount Vernon neighbors. Mount Vernon At Home is the first such nonprofit organization in Virginia, and we are modeled on similar, highly successful aging-in-place “villages” across the nation.

Mount Vernon At Home provides its members with practical solutions, the services of willing volunteers, and the heightened confidence to enable successful “aging in place.” Examples of our services include assistance from volunteers with home and yard maintenance, rides to shopping, medical appointments, and restaurants, and referrals to reliable service providers, together with an array of social programs and cultural outings.

In today’s economy, joining Mount Vernon At Home and remaining in your own home can be a very attractive financial alternative to moving to an assisted living or retirement community and paying substantial initiation and ongoing fees. With a Mount Vernon at Home membership, you and your family will enjoy increased peace of mind, knowing that we will be here to look out for you and offer support, services, and practical solutions as your needs change.

Mount Vernon At Home launched its initial programs in Fall 2009 and is now enrolling members. For more information on the many benefits of membership, please call our Executive Director, Jeff Reed, at 703-303-4060, or send an email to info@mountvernonathome.org to schedule an introductory meeting.
